Cab light fittings rechromed and restored to a very high standard by Tom Thorn. 10th May 2009.

The drivers instrument panels for No 1 cab were refurbished and restored sometime ago by Doug Thompson, and are now in store awaiting other work in the cab to be completed. 10th May 2009.

Here one of the instrument panels is seen out of its wrapping. The large hole is not a missing component, it's where the desk-mounted vigilance buzzer will protrude. At the time of purchase this cab didn't have any serviceable gauges present. 5th May 2009.

More bodywork restoration on 50030 from 26th October 2003. We were blessed with a mild autumn meaning we could really crack on. Notice the cab side rot on 50030; a feature of many English Electric locomotives caused by drainage channels from the cab interior becoming blocked over the years. Photo: Paul Taylor.

The weekend of 10th and 11th April 2010 saw both 50029 and 50030 subjected to thorough valets. Each loco was thoroughly scrubbed and rinsed taking a day apiece to ready them for display at the forthcoming Peak Rail diesel gala event. Both cleaned up very well considering washing our charges has been completely neglected since painting. It is now more regularly scheduled! 50029 is seen standing in front of the newly commissioned turntable with 37152 in the background on the 8th May 2010.
