Early work on the external restoration of 50030 saw the body side rubbed down and painted in grey primer. Replacement glazing was also ordered for nearly all cab and engine room windows. 50029 is seen on the right. An undated shot from early 2003 by Mark Burrows.

The finishing touches just needed applying by 29th August 2004 when RRRG member Neil Favell took this shot of 50030. Notice the cab side rot visible in earlier photos has been repaired.

Here 50030 Repulse is seen on the 16th September 2007 back in the sidings at Rowsley following the diesel gala. The ex-50008 power unit can be seen at the side of locomotive under the tarpaulin. To the left of the image is mark 1 BG 80777 before restoration - this coach was originally purchased for RRRG use but diverted to Peak Rail whose claimed need was greater at the time.
